Steelers Cut Off Foot(e)

UPDATE: The Detroit Free Press is reporting Foote wil sign with Lions. Click here for thier story.

ORIGINAL POAT:The Steelers released starting inside linebacker Larry Foote on Monday. Foote was a 4th round draft pick in 2002. This move was no surprise since he had requested to be traded or axed.

According to news sources Foote resented being pulled off the field for passing downs. He had started every game for 5 seasons, including their 2 recent Super Bowl wins. Timmons was a 2007 first-round draft pick. With Timmons expected to start, Foote told the Pittsburgh he wanted to be traded or let go. The Steelers complied and cut him after failing to find a good draft choice trade in teh NFL draft.

Foote was slated to pull down almost $3 million in thsi last season of his contract. The release exonerates the Steelers from this payout. “Larry has been a big part of our success but, unfortunately, the realities of the salary cap made this decision inevitable,” Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert said in a public statement. “We wish Larry and his family nothing but the best as he moves forward with his career.”

someone once said that you just don’t become a steeler but born one I know I was born a steeler but raise in Georgia.I’ve never been to Pittsburgh but one day I pray I’ll get to see the Steele play a home game. I love the people and the steeler of Pittsburgh.

I know what you mean. I also love that city and the teams. You do need to visit. Even watching a Steelers game at bar in Pittsburgh is a great experience. I travel there for all the big games. I watched the Super Bowl there and had a great time. I know I sound like a broken record, but I love Pittsburgh.
