Once again the Steelers are headed to camp with a sword hanging over their heads. The team has a not so grand tradition of showing up to camp with distractions. They haven’t usually held up so well.
Of course the current distraction is Ben’s Reno issue. Try as they may the issue will not be easy to avoid. The rabid press will undoubtedly want everyone’s “no comment” for the record. This kind of thing can either bring them closer together or serve to drive wedges. Cross your fingers that it rolls off their backs.
Unfortunately the team has this strange history of following Super Bowl by dragging a distracting issue to camp. In 2006 it was Ben motorcycle crash, and back in the 70′s there was that crazy lawsuit against Chuck Noll.
Unfortunately, I expect that the Steelers’ mediocre schedule may be the least of their worries on the road to that seventh ring.
