Limas Sweed - Steelers
Limas Sweed is heir apparent to the third receiver spot on the Steelers’ lineup. His rookie season was not spectacular but receivers are rarely impressive in their premier NFL season. It usually takes 2 maybe 3 years to come into their own.
Word is that Hines Ward has assumed a mentorship role with the 25 year old Sweed. With that kind of help he can only get better. I took some time to look at some of Sweed’s highlight videos on Youtube. He obviously has the talent. The question is; ‘can it translate into a meaningful NFL career?’
Word from Latrobe sounds pretty good. People have been impressed. I’ve heard one commentator compare his style to Santana Moss. Of course, that kind of comparison can’t really be drawn from practice sessions in training camp. He’ll probably have plenty of opportunity to prove himself in the upcoming campaign.
I wouldn’t throw in the towel (Terrible or otherwise) on Limas. Check out this highlight video from Youtube to remind yourself of why this guy was drafted by the Steelers:
