More Injury Worries

October 10, 2012 in Steelers

Word came down that safety, Troy Polamalu has been ruled out of Thursday Night’s Matchup after only one week back from his calf injury. Troy’s all out style of football lends itself to injury and he’s proven it. SInce his rookie year in 2003 he has missed 24 games due to injury!

Injured Picks

August 31, 2012 in Steelers

Steelers injuredThe Steelers have now have lost two of their top three draft picks to injuries — offensive guard David DeCastro had knee surgery Wednesday and starting fullback David Johnson (ACL). In addition, halfback John Clay (torn quad) and now third round pick Sean Spence took a brutal knee injury. Coach Tomlin called it a “significant” injury to his left knee and said Spence was taken to a hospital. Glad to have this pre season behind us, it’s been a tough one.

Leadership

March 5, 2012 in Steelers

With the immenant departure of Hines Ward and James Farrior, the Steelers seem to be facing a dearth of leadership in the locker room.

With his shenanagins behind him (we hope), Ben should be ready to take the reigns.  He has certainly gained some respect by playing under some rough  injuries.  The question is whether he has recovered enough respect to truly lead.

Is Ben ready to really lead this team?

I Want My Stan & Guy!

September 27, 2010 in Steelers

Stan and Guy - ESPN Radio - Formerly

Stan & Guy Off ESPN

So the Steelers look unstoppable. The defense looks as good as any I’ve ever seen. The offense, led by the fourth string quarterback, racked up 38 points. It almost seems too good to be true. When Ben’s suspension was announced who would have guessed the team would get off to a 3 and 0 start? I actually heard someone on WDVE’s post game suggest a 16 – 0 season. It’s easy to get over confident about a start like this.

I heard an interesting stat on 97.3 ‘The Fan’ today. For those claiming the Steelers have had a cake walk the three teams the Steelers have beaten, TN TB & ATL are undefeated other than their losses to Pittsburgh.

On the down side, I just found out that ESPN Pittsburgh has moved to all network programming until the end of the year. They then become Disney Radio. Thanks ABC. Exactly how do you fail at making a sports station work in what is arguably one of the most rabid sports towns in America. I’m sad to see Stan & Guy leave the air. I for one hope ‘The Fan‘ picks them up. Those guys are great.

Smiz at the Post Gazette posted his insight into the demise of ESPN radio in Pittsburgh.
